Why Stoughton Properties Need Regular Landscaping
Living in Stoughton means dealing with New England weather - and that's no joke for your yard. Between the harsh winters that leave behind dead branches and debris, the humid summers that make weeds grow like crazy, and the fall leaf situation that can bury your whole lawn, there's always something that needs attention.
A lot of property owners around here near Pearl Street or over by the Stoughton Town Common start the season with good intentions. They think they'll handle it themselves on weekends. But then life happens, the weeds take over, and suddenly your yard looks like nobody lives there. We get it - your not a bad property owner, you just don't have 10 extra hours every week to spend on yard work.
Regular maintenance isn't just about making your property look nice (though that's a big part). It's about protecting your investment. When you let weeds grow wild, they choke out the good plants. When you skip clean-ups, debris can damage your lawn and create pest problems. And in a town like Stoughton where people take pride in there properties, a messy yard really stands out.
Our Premier Landscaping Services
Spring Clean-Up
Spring in Stoughton is when everyone realizes what winter left behind. And it's usually not pretty. You've got dead leaves that got trapped under snow, branches that broke off during ice storms, matted grass that needs raking, and flower beds full of last year's plant debris.
Most people don't realize how much work a proper spring clean-up actually involves. It's not just raking a few leaves. You need to clear out all the dead stuff, prune back damaged plants, edge your beds, and get everything ready for new growth. This usually takes a full weekend if your doing it yourself - and that's assuming you have all the right tools and know what your doing.
We handle the whole thing. Our crew comes through and removes all winter debris, cleans up your beds, cuts back the dead perennials, and hauls everything away. We also check for any damage to your plants from the cold and salt that gets tracked in from the roads. Properties around the Stoughton High School area especially deal with salt damage from the main roads.
The goal is to get your property looking fresh and ready for spring by late April or early May. That way when your neighbors are still dealing with their winter mess, your property is already looking good.
Fall Clean-Up
Fall clean-up might actually be more work than spring, at least here in Stoughton. The trees around here don't mess around - oak, maple, and all those other deciduous trees drop what feels like a million leaves. And if you let them sit on your lawn all winter, you'll have dead patches come spring.
We usually start fall clean-ups in late October and run through November, depending on when the trees finally drop everything. Some property owners want multiple visits because the leaves keep coming. Properties near Bird Park or along Pleasant Street with lots of mature trees definitely need more than one clean-up.
Our fall service includes leaf removal (obviously), cutting back perennials that are done for the season, cleaning out gutters if you want, and making sure your beds are mulched properly for winter protection. We also take care of any branches or sticks that came down during fall storms.
A lot of people ask if they can just mulch the leaves with their mower. You can do that with a light layer, but when you've got inches of leaves like we get here, mulching doesn't work. The leaves just mat down and kill the grass underneath.
Bi-Weekly Weeding
Here's something nobody tells you about owning property in Massachusetts - the weeds grow faster than anything you actually want to grow. You pull them on Saturday, and by the next Saturday there's more. It's exhausting.
Bi-weekly weeding means we come every two weeks during the growing season (roughly May through September) and pull or treat the weeds in your beds, walkways, and anywhere else they're popping up. This stays ahead of the problem instead of letting it get out of control.
The thing about weeds is they spread fast. One dandelion turns into fifty. Crabgrass takes over bare spots in your lawn. Those little maple seedlings pop up everywhere if you don't get them early. And certain weeds like poison ivy which we see alot around here are actually dangerous.
When we're weeding every two weeks, your beds stay clean and your plants have room to grow. We're not just yanking stuff out either. We make sure to get the roots so they don't come right back. For really stubborn weeds in walkways or between pavers, we use targeted treatments that won't hurt your other plants.
Properties around the center of town near the train station tend to have more weed issues because of all the foot traffic spreading seeds. We also see more weeds in yards that get alot of sun and have areas where the grass is thin.

Landscaping FAQ's
When should I schedule spring clean-up?
Most people schedule for mid-April through early May, depending on the weather. If we have a early spring, we can start sooner. If it's still freezing in April (which happens sometimes), we wait till things warm up. You want the ground to be dry enough that we're not damaging your lawn by walking on it.
How much does bi-weekly weeding cost?
It depends on the size of your property and how many beds you have. A typical residential property with normal sized beds usually runs between $60-$100 per visit. Properties with alot of beds or really overgrown areas cost more the first few times untill we get things under control. We can give you a exact price after we see your property.
Do you haul away all the debris from clean-ups?
Yes, we haul everything away. You don't have to worry about piles of leaves and branches sitting around or trying to stuff everything into your trash barrels. We bring our own trucks and equipment and take care of disposal. That's included in the clean-up price.
